Weekly Report

We've had lots of fun learning about our country this week! Today, we took a pretend field trip to the Statue of Liberty and learned all about it! (We wished we could really go...the Statue of Liberty is a terrific place to visit.)

This coming Monday is MOON DAY! We'll be learning all about the Super Moon and wearing pajamas! (Be sure to have your child wear tennis shoes also, since it's a P.E. Day.) The Peeps are excited about our special day! At the end of the day today, we all said, "See you Moon Day!"

We're reading, reading, reading! As the children read, we're matching the words we read with the words we say, looking for words we know from our sight word lists, and using the first letter of a word to help us figure out what the word might be. Please keep practicing sight words at home, and working on your reading log goals. 

Last week, we thought about what we would do if we were elected president. Our papers and presidential portraits are on display outside our door. (See the next post for pictures.) The Peeps worked on adding feelings to their stories and drawings this week. We learned how to do that by changing the expressions on character's faces to show how they feel in the story. We can add extra sentences to tell how we're feeling in a story, too, like "I was happy."

We're working on recognizing numbers in the teens--those numbers from 11-20. We're practicing our oral counting, and graphing skills, too!

We can tell you all about symbols of America, such as the Statue of Liberty, the Liberty Bell, bald eagles, the U.S. Flag, and even "Uncle Sam." Look at our pictures from Veterans Day!



Monday is MOON DAY! Please have your child wear pajamas to school. Slippers are optional, but your child will also need tennis shoes for recess and P.E. (It is a C Day.)
