Dreaming of Kindness...And the Tooth Fairy

When it's Random Acts of Kindness Week and Dental Health Month, you can get creative when combining themes! On Monday, we wrote about how we're "dreaming of kindness." During Writer's Workshop, we made pictures of ourselves in our beds, with thoughts of being kind floating in our heads! Then later in the day, we started studying dental health by talking about the tooth fairy!

We took advantage of the fact that we were wearing pajamas, and we pretended that we had a loose tooth to pull out. (It was really just a unifix cube that we use in math lessons.) When our "tooth" came out, we put it under our pillow and went to sleep. Then while our eyes were closed tight, a tooth fairy came to take the tooth and leave a gold coin. When we woke up and turned on the classroom lights, we had to guess who our tooth fairy was. (It's a toothy variation of the game "Heads Up, 7Up.")

We have enjoyed reading lots of stories about tooth fairies this week!
