Weekly Report

Hello, Kindergarten Families! (This is the last week I can say that...after this week, you'll be First Grade Families!) The Peeps have worked so hard this year, and made such amazing growth! I couldn't be prouder--they are terrific children!

It's hard for me to believe that the last week of Kindergarten is upon us. We have a very exciting week in store! Tomorrow will be Field Day. Please plan to have your child wear his/her Peep shirt, and sunscreen. We will be outdoors most of the day. We will have beautiful weather, and I'm sure it's going to be a fantastic day!
This week there are lots of things that will be coming home. Please be sure to check your child's backpack each evening, and clean it out for me. Thank you in advance. I appreciate it! Tomorrow, look for some artwork and reading bags coming home. Inside the reading bags, there are several books for your child to read and practice over the summer. I tried to include books that are on your child's level, and also slightly above. This way, you'll have a good idea of where your child is currently working. These books can be written in, colored...they are yours. (They're black and white printed books, so they're perfect for circling sight words, underlining word endings, and coloring pictures!) Your child may be able to read the books independently, but most likely they'll need to have an idea of what the story is about, and some help with unfamiliar words. I hope that these books will help provide some good practice this summer! Later in the week I will send more summer practice, which will include fun writing and math work.

Please remember that this Friday is a half-day of school. No lunch will be served. (If your child is going home in a way other than usual, please let me know.) Friday is a celebration day for all of our Long Leaders! We will have super-special end-of-the-year fun! Your child will not need to bring a backpack Friday. I will have sent everything home by Thursday. ;)
