Look at this terrific bunch of friends, ready to come to school and learn!
This morning, we had a few tears as the boys and girls said goodbye and came in. That's OK! I'm so happy to say that it didn't last long at all. By 9:00, everyone was A-OK! We had a class meeting and talked about how kindergarten is a happy place, and we're going to have so much fun playing and learning together.
We read some fun stories together, and warmed up our finger muscles by playing with some playdough!
Our morning recess is from 10:05-10:25. Here we are, playing on the kindergarten equipment, and swinging on the swings!
We were excited to see the supplies in our toolboxes! The Peeps also have special crayon boxes that we're using to hold all of our crayons. Our Writer's Workshop lesson today was about how to use our crayons correctly to make a self-portrait!
Lunchtime! Here are the Peeps, sitting at our table in the cafeteria!
Our block time class today was Art. Block time is from 1:30-2:20 each day. Here are the Peeps in the art room with Mrs. Heller:
After Art, we will have center time and pack up to go home. I will take more pictures, but if I don't post them today, look for them tomorrow. Don't be surprised if your child is tired this afternoon. The first day of school can really wear you out, and it takes a few weeks for kindergartners to adjust. There's a lot of time spent learning new routines, and they are each working so hard to listen and get things right. I'm so proud of how well everyone has done today! It's been a wonderful first day!
