Valentines Day is such a wonderfully fun day to celebrate our classroom friendships! It's also a day for us to practice some very important reading and writing skills! Please plan to send your child to school on Valentines Day with a valentine card for each classmate. We have 21 children in our class.
*Take time to have your child write the "to" and "from" part of the valentines by himself/herself. This is a very BIG challenge for Kindergarten friends, but it's such a great way to practice writing! Break it down over 2-3 work periods to make it easier.
*No food items will be allowed with valentines. The cards alone are just fine to send. You may also include a non-food item, but that's completely optional.
*PLEASE NOTE that our class Valentine Party is on Friday, February 10. We will have our party that afternoon, along with the rest of the school, but pass out valentines on Valentine's Day so that it's still special. (We will make a Valentine mailbox at school in early February. If you would like to send a shoebox or two for us to use, that would be wonderful! I'll need 21 total, so if you can send one for a child who might not have one, I would appreciate it! I am also looking for donations of Valentine wrapping paper, paper lace hearts, and valentine stickers for us to use when we decorate our boxes.)
*Use this list when your child writes out his/her valentines. We have several names that are very close in spelling this year--it's important that we be careful with our writing and reading!
