We started writing books! Our books have three pages, and we're learning how to plan a story across the pages. Writers start with a plan...so we think about what will be on each page before we start to write. We are working hard drawing detailed pictures and trying to put words on the page.
Everyone's skill level is different, depending on how well they've mastered letter sounds and writing letters. That's OK! Some children are working on the pictures, planning what the page will say, and dictating to me. Children who are just beginning to write letters and recognize letter sounds are able to write the sounds they know, and maybe put in a sight word we've learned. Other Peeps are writing more sounds in the words, and writing more of their ideas in their stories themselves. ALL of those skills meet expectations for this time of the year! Our goals are to (1) plan before you write (2) use your time wisely to work on your book and (3) remember what your book is about, so that you can read your book to others.
Here are some terrific examples of work this week!
